Cookies & Similar Technologies
Cookie
Micro-Tech (H.K.) Holding Limited (“Micro-Tech HK”, “we”, “our” or “us”) and our authorized partners use a variety of technologies to facilitate the delivery of services via our Sites (websites, applications, and digital platforms) and to understand and preserve your preferences. The use of these technologies complies with the **Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486, “PDPO”)** of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and this Policy, or the privacy policies of third parties providing the relevant services.
1. Cookies
We use both “session cookies” and “persistent cookies” — small text files sent to your browser and stored on your device.
– **Session Cookies**: Temporary cookies that expire automatically when you close your browser. They facilitate your browsing session (e.g., remembering temporary login status or page navigation).
– **Persistent Cookies**: Remain on your device until their expiration date or until you delete them. They help remember your preferences (e.g., language settings) or track interactions related to marketing and communications. Persistent cookies may store personal data only if you are a registered user or have explicitly consented to the provision of personal data in accordance with this Policy.
Cookies do not damage your device, and you have the right to manage them. You can configure your browser to notify you of cookie usage, refuse cookies, or delete existing cookies. However, refusing or deleting certain cookies (especially essential cookies) may affect the functionality of our Sites (e.g., inability to access restricted areas). For detailed instructions, refer to the “Help” section of your browser or search for “manage cookies” for your specific browser type.
2. Local Shared Objects (LSOs)
Local Shared Objects (also known as “Flash cookies”) are used to store preferences (e.g., volume settings for video content) or display personalized content. Unlike standard cookies, LSOs are stored via Adobe Flash Player. To manage privacy and storage settings for LSOs, visit the [Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager](https://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html) or adjust Flash Player settings in your device’s system preferences.
3. Third-Party Tracking
Our authorized third-party partners (e.g., marketing analytics providers, ad networks) may use cookies, LSOs, or similar technologies when you visit our Sites. These third parties act on our behalf, but we may not have full access to or control over their cookies.
Third parties use these technologies to:
– Track your browsing behavior on our Sites (e.g., pages visited, interaction with content);
– Facilitate surveys or deliver targeted advertising;
– Identify user groups to optimize Site content and services;
– Measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
We require third parties to comply with PDPO and relevant data protection laws, and they shall not tie the collected information to your personal data without your explicit consent.
4. Widgets
Our Sites may include widgets (e.g., “Share” buttons, interactive mini-programs). These widgets may collect your IP address, page visitation history, or set cookies to ensure proper functionality. Widgets are either hosted directly by Micro-Tech HK or authorized third parties. For third-party-hosted widgets, the collection and use of your information are subject to the third party’s privacy policy.
5. Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs)
We use clear gifs — transparent graphic images (typically 1×1 pixel) — to measure user behavior on pages (e.g., click-through rates, page views), improve user experience, and manage Site content. Clear gifs are not tied to your personal data and are used solely for aggregate analytics purposes.
6. Behavioral Advertising
We collaborate with third-party ad networks to display advertising on our Sites and manage our advertising on other platforms. These partners use cookies and web beacons to collect non-personally identifiable information about your activities, enabling them to deliver interest-based advertising tailored to your preferences.
If you wish to opt out of interest-based advertising, you may do so via the [third-party ad network’s opt-out link]([Insert Opt-Out Link]) or by adjusting your browser cookie settings. Please note that opting out only disables interest-based advertising; you may still receive generic, non-targeted ads.
7. Do Not Track (DNT)
Many browsers (e.g., Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari) offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) option, which sends a signal to websites via a DNT header indicating your preference to not be tracked. Micro-Tech HK does not currently commit to responding to browser DNT signals, as there is no uniform industry standard for DNT interpretation or implementation adopted by industry groups, technology companies, or regulators.
We take your privacy and right to choice seriously and will continue to monitor developments in DNT technology and the establishment of industry standards, updating our practices as appropriate.
For any questions about our use of cookies and similar technologies, please contact us at privacy@mtmed.com.
